When you add it all up, Dick and Pat Groepler have lived in just about every corner of this country - and even parts of Canada. Having moved over twenty times in their 3+ decades of marriage, they have literally seen it all. They lived in New York, Florida, Texas, Connecticut, South Carolina, Virginia, California, Georgia, Maine and even Quebec, before they chose to settle down in North Carolina.

Having graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, where he sailed the Atlantic on the square-rigged ship Eagle, and then served on active duty as a search and rescue pilot, Dick had already been accustomed to travel and found enjoyment in seeing different, places and learning about different cultures. He later joined Sperry-Rand Corporation's engineering division, where he met his soon-to-be wife, Pat. It was love at first sight and wasn't long before they began a lifelong partnership. While at Sperry, Dick was required to relocate often, which explains many of their moves. After 29 years, the Groeplers left to start a network marketing business together, where they worked their way up to the top 5% in the industry and continued to move around the country.

But as much as this adventurous couple loved seeing different places and meeting new people, they knew they wanted to set down their roots, leading them to Western North Carolina, where they've been making the most of life together ever since.

"North Carolina - especially Henderson County - embodied all our favorite aspects of every place we've ever lived," Pat says. "The rich history of towns like Hendersonville, the perfectly central, location between the northern states and southern states, the mild climate, the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain setting , the high quality of life and culture - we couldn't imagine a better place to call home."

From the great local fishing to their season tickets at the Flat Rock Playhouse, Dick and Pat are always making the most of life here.
Dick & Pat are the team to know...
